Line Interfaces: Archived Product Information
This page preserves historical information about the line interface products formerly described on eela-audio.com. It is an archived record. It does not describe products that are currently offered, and it makes no statement about present availability, ownership, pricing, schedules, contacts or continuity.
The source material states that the series of line balancing units had been updated only recently at the time of writing. The units were described as built with the best available electronics. The archived descriptions below reflect that historical text.
Balancing Units
EA924
A quad stereo balancing unit with balanced inputs and unbalanced outputs. It was described as a 19-inch, 1U rack mount unit with four times two female XLR-type inputs and four times two RCA cinch outputs. The gain of the balancing amplifiers could be set individually per channel, with trimpots reachable from the rear panel and adjustable with a screwdriver. The mains supply was described as a wide-range system of 85 to 260 volts AC and 47 to 440 Hz.
EA926
A quad stereo balancing unit with unbalanced inputs and balanced outputs, offered in two versions. The EA926/E was electronically balanced with premium quality amplifiers. The EA926/T had transformer balanced outputs, used to isolate signals and prevent ground loop problems. It was a 19-inch, 1U rack mount unit with four times two RCA cinch inputs and four times two male XLR-type outputs. Each output was driven by a separate amplifier, with per-output gain trimpots on the rear panel. Internal jumpers allowed stereo channels A and B, and C and D, to be coupled so the unit or part of it could serve as a distribution amplifier. The mains supply was the same wide-range type.
EA820
An input and output balancing unit in a half 19-inch, 1U housing, with stereo amplifiers for interfacing consumer-type recorders with professional studio equipment for playback and record. Separate screwdriver-adjustable gain trimpots were provided for recording and playback amplifiers. Connections to studio equipment were transformer balanced on XLRs, and the unbalanced interface used RCA/phono connectors.
Distribution and Preamplification
EA927
A distribution amplifier with balanced stereo inputs and four balanced stereo outputs, in two versions. The EA927/E was electronically balanced with premium quality amplifiers; the EA927/T had transformer balanced outputs for signal isolation and ground loop prevention. It was a 19-inch, 1U rackmount housing with two male XLR-type inputs and four times two XLR-type outputs. Each output had its own amplifier and rear-panel gain trimpot. The mains supply was the wide-range type.
EA811
An output balancing unit and RIAA preamplifier in a half 19-inch, 1U housing, with stereo amplifiers for interfacing consumer-type recorders with professional studio equipment, converting unbalanced sources to balanced inputs. It could also serve as a RIAA amplifier with a two-stage design: a linear front end for impedance matching and gain, followed by a passive RIAA equalization network. Separate screwdriver-adjustable gain trimpots were provided. Studio connections were transformer balanced on XLRs, and the unbalanced interface used RCA/phono connectors.
